Today I wanted to throw back to the day I started high school because so many people are about to start their new schools, in particular my littlest Sister is about to start high school and my eldest Nephew is about to start primary school and so I thought that I’d throw back to my first day!
I’d throw back to the day I started primary school but honestly I can’t remember it haha!
I remember the day I started high school though, I was SO scared! It was so scary going from my little primary school to a big school full of lots of scary people that I didn’t know.
Don’t get me wrong I was with a lot of my friends but there was so many more students in that school than my primary school that the percentage of people I knew was probably less than 1%.
It felt like I was getting ready to spend the rest of my life there when really it’s only 5 years, but when you’re 11 the concept of spending 5 years anywhere is A REALLY LONG TIME.
I got lost a lot in my first few weeks, forgot everyone’s names, felt completely overwhelmed with the amount of work we had and spent a lot of time feeling pretty scared about how big everything and everyone was! Then one day it just started to feel normal and it all got a bit easier.
I guess the point I’m trying to make with this post is that if you’re about to start a new school it will be big and scary for a little bit, you will get lost and you will forget new friends and teachers names but it will get less scary and it will start to feel normal eventually.
Just keep your chin up and just keep going, school will be over before you know it! 🙂
