Throwback Thursday #1 – My Office

If you saw the post that I published just before this one you’ll know that I’m starting a new series on Thursdays called Throwback Thursdays!

I know Throwback Thursday has been a thing for a while but I thought I’d join in the fun!

Today’s throwback is a special one because as you will all know by now I’m officially a full time blogger and I’ve never been happier!

I also keep mentioning that I have a new office and that’s what today’s throwback is about because my office is actually really special as it used to belong to my Grandad.

About 30 years ago my Grandmother had a brick shed built for my Grandad to do his carpentry work in.

For all those years until he developed Alzheimer’s my Grandad worked in this shed every day making all sorts of garden furniture and decorations for friends and family.

I used to love helping him in his shed or even just hanging out with him in there, he always had country music on and I honestly think that’s where my love of country music comes from, all those hours spent listening to music in the shed with Grandad!

Anyway as my Grandad is now in a nursing home and no longer uses his shed my Grandmother had it converted into a sort of utility room which was then converted into an office for me to work in!

It’s so nice having an office away from home to work in, it gets me out of the house and it means that at the end of the day I can leave work behind and actually feel like I’m having a break from it all.

I found these two great pictures of my Grandad and I in his shed when I was about 9 or 10 and I wanted to share them today to ‘throwback’ to when this was his shed.

It’s crazy to think that when these pictures were taken neither of us had any idea that this would one day be my office or that I’d one day be running my own blog which I’d be able to turn into an actual business so that I could do it full time…

I always tell my Grandad every time I see him what I’m doing now and how well it’s going but obviously because of the Alzheimer’s he doesn’t understand (then again I’ve got family without Alzheimer’s who don’t understand either haha…)

I wish he could see how well I’m doing and how happy I am! I love my new office so much it’s full of happy memories and it’s just a really positive and fun place to work! These are some pictures of my office / Grandad’s shed as it is now! 🙂

So yeah, that’s today’s throwback! Feel free to share yours with me in the comments below, on Twitter @MissCharlotteEm or on any of my other social media sites which you can find by clicking here!

Thank you so much for reading!
